what exactly happens in the Inductor when current will start changing?

Not completely satisfied with the textbook definitions. . What exactly happens to electrons in the coil to resist in the direction of applied Voltage. The same coil(zero resistance) which is made straight will not experience any kind of hindrance for flow.

Please help me to understand better
